My biggest issue with a dog is that it's a bit more of a responsibility, such as walking it, obedience, etc. Which is why it used to slightly annoy me when relatives would try to push a dog on me hard, which is easy for them to say since they don't have to actually deal with it. Had a neighbor for 2 years that really shouldn't have had a dog, just to reinforce things... boxer/pitbull size, locked up in a cage for 12-15 hours a day, messed inside on the carpet constantly, ran around the neighborhood unleashed, flea infested.
