I buy things for a corporation.

And no, it's nothing like clicking a button on Amazon. Just to buy one thing is a fucking drawn out 6 step process. It's ridiculous.

One company I worked for, they were literally just a corporation that buys and sells other companies... and they merged 2 of us together... but kept us distinct inside of it.

So while I was "employed" and paid by one company, I was actually doing work for the other company...

So when I ordered things, I needed to put in duplicate orders through both companies... in triplicate. You can't use a PC, you have to do it by hand.

And then the corporation that bought the my employer found out how much money they were losing, they put a purchasing freeze on.

All of my orders had to be signed by me, my manager, VP of Ops for both companies (two different people), and then someone at Corporate headquarters.

Machine stopped working and needs a $50 part? A month to get the paperwork done.

There's a lot of dealing with vendors and getting quotes. Most people are nice and kind of ass kissy which I don't mind. They talk to me like I own the place lol

Heh, after my POs were approved, then it would be sent to purchasing. they were usually pretty on the ball... If my boss remembered to take the POs over.

Receiving however? was a fucking shit show. It was common, (COMMON), that incomiong packages were sent to the wrong department or person... and for some fucking reason, they wouldn't send the packages back. They'd just throw them on their desk. My boss had to tell me to "Just order it all again" more than once because it was easier than trying to find the delivery in the company.

Oh, and I had one board for my machine that was broken, but not detrimental to machine operations. I gave it to my boss to ship... and 6 months later I started trying to find out what happened to it (repair turn around for this company was up to 6 months...) They asked me for the PO so they could search it (because it had to be sent to japan), so i asked my boss for it... he came back an hour later... with the board.

He never sent it.

Lol yeah my job involves making the POs and purchasing.

But the kicker is, it's a salary job and I'm paid hourly. My supervisor and coworker quit at the same time a couple weeks ago, and everything has been put on me.

So I snapped yesterday and sent an email to every manager in the building including HR telling them how I feel about the situation. Didn't hold shit back. I was called into HR and given a $2 raise and encouraged to take the supervisor position. Which I really don't want since I saw what the previous ones went through, but I'll take the 2 bucks. I don't think $20k more a year is worth it tbh

Read blueprints and use computer software to estimate the amount of each flooring and usually wall product needed and work with a sales person from here to get the job. AKA, I trace and color on PDF versions of blueprints.

Teacher. Currently 4th but I taught third grade for several years.

Correctional officer aka prison guard. I really don't get why people don't wanna work this line of work particularly right now. We so short staffed all they care about is a warm body to hold a post. Had a captain literally say to the entire staff that the only way we can get fired right now is bringing drugs in or fucking a inmate.

I get it if you ain't doing it. Looks dangerous and what not looking in from the outside but the amount of people who are working it wanting to quit is what gets me.

Edit: we so short I literally got paid to sit in a chair for 12 hours my last shift. Occasionally had to get up and hand a inmate a form he was requesting and then of course count time.

Im the Economic Development Director for my tribal government. Im the point of contact between my organizations executive leadership and other governments and entities: local, state, tribal, and federal. Its basically a ton networking, creating partnerships, securing funding, and project management.

I get to pursue a lot of big projects. Right now Im working on getting our own tribal ISP and utility companies started, helping our medical cannabis company get up and running, and getting my tribe to start growing healthy foods through farming and year-round greenhouse operations. Theres a ton of other things Im working on that arent quite as far along as those projects. Its pretty exciting.

I also do a lot of smaller things like helping tribal members secure funding to start their own business, setting up job training and certification courses, grant writing, and regular managerial duties.

That's really neat. I've worked with a counterpart of your's down in New Mexico during the pandemic and that whole effort was extremely fulfilling and fascinating to work on.
