Scenario 1: MMA rules
Scenario 2: anything goes

Both are equal in strength

Easily if their submission game is tight or if their speed and precision is on par for your average MMA fighter.

A person who is trained to fight will usually always have the advantage over someone who doesn't know how to fight. Being a bigger person only means that you have the weight advantage and probably the physical ability to withstand a certain amount of blows compared to the average person...

Yes. An untrained fighter would fail hard.
Hell, there is a fight where a 600lbs trained professional Sumo with some MMA skills (about 6'1) fights a 169lbs trained MMA Fighter (about 5'6) and it goes a little something like this:

Overconfidence is what leads to many well trained fighters to meet their demise though. In truth, anyone can be a capable fighter should the need arise and thus one should never underestimate a person's strength because a seemingly weak person can probably have the strength of two people

Why do people that dont know how to fight always think that street rules change things?

There arent many martial arts that arent effective in an actual fight.

There are episodes out there. The "trained" fighter choked because they weren't battle tested

The trained one definitely has an advantage, but it really depends on what "untrained" means. "Never thrown a punch in his life and would be winded after three swings" vs "regularly exercises and knows the basics of fighting" is a pretty wide difference. The more the average person knows, the more quickly the gulf between them will close.

Yes. There is no entity in the world that is deadlier than a trained MMA fighter. I've heard tales of flyweights going into the woods and killing wild boars with their bare hands and superior ground game. You ever heard of San Lorenzo in the Philippines? Exactly! Damn place didn't stand a chance after pissing off a MMA team. Some say that you can still hear the tapping out of ghosts in the long-abandoned remains of the village.

Yeah weight divisions exist because there is an expectation that both fighters are skilled.

I'm actually more scared of smaller people. They tend to be quicker and more of a whirlwind of fury in a fight.

My grandad did help out a big guy who was being bullied though. Guy weighed like 400 lbs and was being beat up regularly by some pieces of shit much smaller than himself. Grandad told him you manage to get ahold of one just fall on him. So that's what he did still came in sportin bruises but he was happy as hell cause they started to leave him alone.

Some are significantly more effective than others.

But it also depends on the quality of the training. I had a friend who had been doing MMA for a few years and was still bloody useless in a scrap. But if the training is high quality, its going to be a much bigger factor than just about anything else.

Their chances of winning are very high, but they can definitely struggle against a opponent who is "stronger".

BMI and underestimating someone's strength is very dangerous, even to someone who spent years training fighting because chances are they spent their time fighting against opponents their size.

So theoretically someone who is a seasoned martial artists, could go up against someone who is body builder...
and that body builder might have a chance because they might be physically stronger than the martial artist...

Trained easily

Equal strength really negates the size difference here. Generally bigger is stronger, which is why they'd even have a chance in the first place.
