got my first new phone in like 6 years and i wanna play with my shiny new brick.

no weird hentai waifu shovelware. idc otherwise.

just tried that new warhammer 40k game. was fun for like 20 minutes before it became apparent its some haaaaardcore p2w bullshit .

Mini Metro is great on phone. Its controls lend well to the touch screen.

Beyond that what kind of games are you looking at and do you have a tablet that you might play on?

i think my kid has that. he has a kindle fire hd 10 or something. so do i but ive literally never even turned it on.

idc what really. the only game i really play is puzzle and dragons. rpgs are fun. puzzles are fun. i dont really like mobas or tower defense.

Another Eden or Final Fantasy Dimensions.

I gave up on Another Eden after awhile but for a free jrpg with someone who worked on the music from Chrono Trigger (I think) it seemed solid. Kinda boring at the beginning but then picked up. Unless you are a compulsive gambler there is no reason to get caught up in the gacha parts. Final Fantasy Dimensions is a pretty standard FF game a little like the class system from V but it's cheap and interesting enough.

Otherwise I never find anything worthwhile on mobile outside of some Dragon Quest ports. I have 2+3+4. Never got anything else on mobile.

If you can use the tablet then Overboard! is a solid reverse-murder mystery. Phone screens are a bit small for it, hence the tablet comment, but it can work if you really don't have the ability to use a tablet.

Final Fantasy Dimensions (the first, not the second) is a solid SNES-era style FF that works fine on phones (it's most close to V). Dice Heroes is a fun little tactics game, though it gets a bit grindy after a while. Monument Valley is pretty fun in a zen way.

If you don't mind spending a little cash, The Room series are top-tier puzzle games and I think you can get all of them for like $5.

Surprised someone else mentioned Final Fantasy Dimensions (I didn't realize there was a second, I meant just the first). It's worth checking out for sure. I liked it a lot. Felt like playing a SNES Final Fantasy again with some new twists and as you said has a fun class system that can mix and match skills. Maybe now it'll seem just outdated but in 2017 or so it seemed cool still.

It'll run fine as it's older than that. Quality title for sure.

Probably. I know there's weird stuff that can happen with different sized screen phones and the touch screen buttons being off. So there's always a risk buying older mobile games if they don't get patched. I never redownloaded it on my newest phone. It's still on my old ZTE. I had no issues then.

But of course. I play every Final Fantasy game. Even nonsense that no one has even heard of (like, I have the disk Chocobo Collection). :V

And yeah, Dimensions is sweet. Shame D2 is hot trash.

I mean, the game is old enough that a 5-year-ago phone would be cutting edge when the game came out. That said the game is pretty low-requirement so basically anything with a touch screen could run it at this point.
