Ok, i know the title of my thread is not very descriptive and looks rather ambiguous in meaning, but i have just noticed a manipulative rhetorical tactic some antagonistic people on online gaming message boards use, so i am not just simply talking about individual game message boards on Gamefaqs, but ones on other sites aswell.

One thing that individual gaming message boards are used for, is for when you are playing a video game, but you are stuck somewhere and you cant work out how to progress further, or you are finding a boss battle really hard to win, and you cannot find the kink in its algorithm ect. Or there is just something about the game than you think is unfair and unreasonable and you just wanna air your frustration about it. There are 2 types of responders you get on individual game message boards

1) The good faith responders.....these are the people that will respond to your thread, genuinely sympathise with you, and give you good polite constructive advice to your problem or frustration

and 2) The bad faith antagonistic responders. These are the ppl who are clearly are not interested in making constructive and helpful replies, all they wanna do is just look for opportunities to call someone thick dumb and dense, call them names, or arrogantly brag about how easy and simple they figured something out whilst putting you down for it at the same time.

With the latter, ive notice they often do this muddying the waters tactic. Once they have goaded you into a heated back and forth with them, they will muddy the waters on everything and come out and say something like "fuck me you are so arrogant and double down on your ignorance. People here are giving you the advice to your problem, but instead of accepting it, your doubling down on your ignorance and spewing winging complaints at them" WHOAAA, whoaa whoaaa whoaaa whoaaa whoaaa..............lets just step back here and really analise whats going on here. No.......the only people who i am making any kind of clap back responses to in this thread is to the rude antagonistic tits like you. Im saying nothing back at all to the good faith responders other than "thank you for your help/advice". Me going back and forth with YOU, does not equal "Me not graciously accepting the help everyone has given me. Ive read their replies and simply taken it on board, all im doing is just responding to your obvious antagonistic taunts".

Here's another thing i wanna add to that. I personally think that its just stupid petty and pointless for anyone online to get pissy and upty over a total strangers struggle or frustration with a fricken video game for petes sake!!!!, i mean seriously!!!!, how the fuck does this effect your life in anyway shape or form????, it doesnt!!!!

"venting frustration" isn't as innocent as you're making it out to be. it's a game, figure it out like everyone else did. it's one thing to ask a question sure. saying the game is somehow bad or wrong or unfair or unreasonable because you can't figure it out is obnoxious and insulting to everyone who likes the game. you deserve to get negative reactions for that.

The funny thing is that people online will start calling you trash at a game or pretend you haven't played it even when you say it's too easy/simplistic, because they assume/insist everyone had to struggle as much as they did. It goes both ways.

But............its just a video game at the end of the day........a commercialised product someone else made. Its not like im bad mouthing someones town or country for example, you know......something that some people actually take personal pride in that actually means something to them.

Id never take any offence at all over someone complaining about or bad mouthing any video game, cause its just a fricken video game.

certain kinds of people get mad when you criticize things they like. whether it's games, shows, etc. they take it as a personal attack and therefor escalate it and personally attack you for it. people are just really fucking dumb and attach themselves to the products and fandoms they like to the point that it becomes them, so they flip shit over complaints and won't even try to see from other points of view, even if it means they have to go full dunning-kruger over it

here it is!! he straight up said your grievances with the game are an insult to the fans and you deserve whatever pushback you get, see? straight up deranged, militaristic loyalty to a fucking product. games aren't perfect, they're made by normal people who can in fact leave oversights, make bad design choices, balance things improperly, and so on.
