..hips are.

To recap, a man who people do not actually know had an affair with another person that people don't know, therefore cheating on his wife who is another person that people do not know.

But gee if you read through the comments on twitter/Instagram/reddit you'd think that this guy cheated on them too. Like actual heartbreak and outrage. That's weird right.

The Critical Role fandom is by far the most parasocial one I've seen. The wildest example I've seen was right after they did their first episode of their third campaign. For those who don't know, CR is the D&D livestream. Before their third campaign, they did a little miniseries which included some guests and a few main cast members. When it came time to the third campaign, it was revealed that two of the cast would not be playing new characters, they'd be playing the ones they'd played in that miniseries.

In general, a lot of people lost their shit, but the standout to me was one post on reddit. Someone talked about how they'd had a bad day, but they knew it would turn out okay because they'd be able to finish their night watching CR. Then all of that was ruined when the cast, people they trusted, betrayed their trust by not playing a brand new Dungeons and Dragons character.

Yeah the stuff they write up and talk about on reddit are super hardcore. You'd think they'd solve the middle east with that kind of anaylsis.

Dunno if I would describe the situation in the OP as parasocial as I understand it, but there is a tendency for people who aren't even familiar with the Try Guys just pile on in general on what appears to be the villain, either out of a FOTM thing or just taking advantage of the situation to be as unhinged as possible. IME, shitstirrers love to take any chance to keep, uh, stirring shit as long as possible.
