I can read some but can't conjugate if listening. Can't speak at all unless you want some butchered words even with me saying stuff phonetically.

Did you pick up an of the phonetics though?
That can be a big thing.
One-half of my Family was Italian, and I can still pronounce words properly because of it.
My Great Grandmother was off the boat. I feel so blessed to have known her.

Nah.

They lived in the U.S. (I live in Canada) so I only saw them every couple of years. They passed away when I was still young.

That sucks.

I am very thankful that I got to meet and know my Great Grandparents...they were so old world.
It makes me weird nowadays, but it was a great foundation to build on. It helped make me who I am today.

Where did you get most of your German?
~This is a loaded question, btw. I want to see if you answer is the same as mine.

My dad taught me that phrase. He learned a bit of German when he was in the Navy (in the early 1960s).

I used to know a reasonable amount of Cyrillic back in the day.
I once spelled Stolichnia within on character correctly. Tolstoy is on of my favorite authors.
I can still stay the Alphabet pretty well though. It surprises most Russians that I meet.
