Current Events > Watched the original TMNT movie. It still holds up pretty well imo *spoilers*

It's a really good blend of dark/seriousness and lighthearted comedy. I haven't seen 1 since I was 5 and I never saw 2 or 3, but I heard 1 is the best one anyway.

Funny things to note about this kids' movie that probably won't fly in today's world >_>

-Raph yells out DAMN! a couple of times and Donny says it once
-Raph also says "Bitchin'" and wanted to make it the catchphrase of the Turtles lol
-April O'Neil gets slapped and punched a bunch of times until she's knocked out
-Mikey and Raph multiple times says how hot April O'Neil is lol
-The hideout that Shredder's kids hang out in is fucking rad with Skateboarding and Arcades
-Kids literally asking for cigarettes in the hideout lol
-Splinter gets tortured
-The puppetry looks really good! I think Jim Henson helped out with this
-The fight scenes are also pretty fun
-They reference steroids >_>
-There's a part where Casey Jones is giving April a shoulder massage, and she's wearing a low-cut tanktop with her nipples poking through it >_>
-That same outfit also gets wet when she goes into the sewers

Kids in the 90s got to see all the cool shit. Overall it was a fun movie to rewatch

TMNT2 was something I watched like a hundred times as a kid, been wanting to rewatch both movies but I was afraid they wouldn't hold up at all and my childhood would be ruined.

This seems accurate, I was obsessed when I was young and only watched 3 twice. 2 for some reason had Tokka and Rahzar instead of Bebop and Rocksteady, but at least it was some mutated enemy creatures like the cartoon frequently had.

What I've heard is:

2 is wackier and less serious than 1, but still a decent movie.

3 is a complete trash fire, has terrible dialogue, there's no villains from the show/comic, and Mikey is only in it for like 10 minutes cuz he's kidnapped the whole time >_>

Also Sam Rockwell in the first movie blows my mind.

Also the actors in the suits all make appearances outside the suits (not the voice actor).

Mikey's actor is actually the pizza delivery guy.
Donny's is one of the foot soldiers that visits april.
Raph (the actor does the voice as well) is in the cab when Raph rolls over it 'what the hell was that?!'
I forget who Leo's actor is, but he's in there somewhere.

The first one is fantastic. Secret of the Ooze is still great. I preferred it when I was younger but now Id say I like the first better.

Third one is pretty crap IMO. Always thought so even when I was a little kid / the Target age when it came out.

I saw all three of those live action movies in the theater.

I was so young when I saw the first one that I barely remember it, but I watched it a million times on VHS.

It has aged surprisingly well.

There's that bit where everything just slows down and they're all in hiding while Raphael recovers that's really good. Didn't appreciate it as a kid

Sequels are terrible and don't hold up at all unfortunately

Yeah, there's some surprisingly good emotional moments in this movie.

Solid movie, but the whole "this would NEVER fly in today's movies!" Is just silly.

Shredder supposedly getting crushed to death in a garbage truck is also pretty dark and gruesome even if you don't see any gore.

Havent seen 2 in a long time outside of a clip or two, but I have a feeling I'd still like it even if it's sillier. I don't care how corny it is, the Vanilla Ice scene is still fun to me. Go ninja go ninja go!

I found Leo. He's one of the thugs next to the 2nd-in-command guy when they're fighting with Casey Jones over Splinter

I haven't seen the first movie since I was a little kid and while I liked it (because Ninja Turtles), I do remember thinking it was too dark (like literally) and wondering where Bebop and Rocksteady were lol. I remember liking 2 more because I dunno bright colors I guess so watched that more. I do want to give the first one a rewatch sometime, I feel like I'd appreciate it better now. The second one might not hold up as well.

Strong instincts here. My issues with TMNT2 is that they turned a somewhat serious action movie into a more kid-friendly movie. Great movie for kids, but as an adult, TMNT 1 was much better.

By the second movie, he's disfigured and suicidal. That was an attempted murder/suicide. He wasn't aiming to survive. He did fail in his attempt to kill the Turtles though.

I always found it funny how Shredder hands all 4 turtles their asses by himself in the first movie, only loses to Splinter because he blindly charged at him like a dumbass, then when he comes back in the second is all like, "I failed. We need something stronger."

Like, yeah, he screwed up, but he still probably could've taken out the turtles and Splinter by himself if he really tried. Instead he just stands around until the very end of the movie.

I liked the original actress better.
