Eziya Bowdens suspicions rose as her Lyft driver started spraying the car, telling her how attractive she was and how hed date her if she werent so young.

A Raleigh, North Carolina, teen is safely back home after jumping out of a moving Lyft vehicle, acting on suspicions about the driver.

According to ABC11 News, Eziya Bowden, 17, was fresh off work when she leapt out of the car a few miles from her home and ended up in the emergency room.

Bowdens suspicions began as soon as she got into the Lyft vehicle that had arrived for her. The driver made remarks that she found disturbing, such as how attractive she was and how he would date her if she werent so young.

How many boys flirted with you? He said that right away, Bowden recalled, according to ABC 11. If Im riding with a stranger, Im always nervous, but I knew, this it was different. I knew that I wasnt going crazy or anything, I knew that my body has never felt like that before. Ive seen a lot of this so I knew I was feeling drugged.

Bowden claimed that the car smelled like cigarettes when she first climbed inside. The driver sprayed something, and the odor subsided, but he persisted in spraying. She described starting to feel warm and disoriented.

But for you to keep spraying it, then roll your windows up, like, I know how its not about me being nervous or anything, said Bowden, according to ABC 11. Im just like, I know how it made me feel.

The teen acknowledged feeling terrified and deciding to get out of the car rather than fall asleep in it and she ultimately exited the vehicle by jumping. Bowden said it happened so quickly that she blacked out after opening the door, only recalling landing and how terrified she was.

According to her, the driver never stopped during that time. She claimed he contacted the police for her while pretending to be an onlooker.

Fortunately, Bowdens jump didnt result in any broken bones.

A spokeswoman for Lyft informed ABC 11 that the company is aware of the drivers concerning behavior. According to the spokeswoman, Lyft has blocked the drivers access to its platform and is prepared to support any inquiry by Raleigh law enforcement.

I dont think thats stopping him from anything else, said Bowden, ABC 11 reported. It doesnt really bring peace to me at all.

Authorities said theyd brought up no charges related to the incident. And while Bowden received a refund for the trip, she doesnt see herself using Lyft or any other rideshare service again.

An 95 mask wouldn't really defend against something like that iirc

He'd have to either already have a tolerance or do something like spray an opiate solution and have narcan on hand or something I think.

If there was some knock out spray why was the driver unaffected?

sounds like a teenage girl who got uncomfortable and made up a story in her head. Bet the spray was febreze or water and lavender or something like that.

Yeah this story doesn't make alot of sense

guy sounds like a real creeper and i dont blame her for getting away from him but the air spray stuff sounds kind of farfetched yeah. when you're already on edge and suspicious your mind can do some pretty crazy convincing for itself

I think that even if she was mistaken about the substance (like, maybe she was knocked out after jumping out), the main takeaway is that the guy was saying enough to make the girl feel scared enough to jump out of a moving car.

Yeah, the spray stuff seems slightly off. She may have started to have a panic attack from this guy creeping her out though. In which case, it's still a good idea for her to trust her instincts here.

Doesnt Uber have a law you have to be 18 or older to use it? Not saying the girl is wrong here but why would you even disclose your age to your Uber driver?

Sounds like she made the right call. The spray thing sounds pretty wild.

Uber drivers arent allowed to smoke cigarettes they will close the account. So he was basically done either way. Now she says the smell made her feel weird tho that is interesting.

Unless he ditched the phone or it was originally stolen from someone else they should be able to quickly ID the guy.
