Just pull the plug already. Bond can't be a chaste gritty antihero because that goes against everything that makes the character appealing. That's like remaking The Punisher as someone who hates guns and will go out of his way to avoid using firearms at all costs. What works for one character doesn't work for another. Being an amorous spy is the baseline appeal of James Bond. It's a playboy fantasy about travelling the world, beating up assholes, winning at cards, drinking fancy drinks, and sleeping with exotic women.

But, hey. EON knows better than I do. They can let their little relic of the cold war limp along as they casually remind us what a racist/sexist/abusive/rapist/xenophobe the old character was and beat it over our heads how much more entertaining the new films are because they coincide with modern views -- including "sex is bad."

Go ahead and make the character gay. Just have him sleep with three dudes in every film. That would honestly be truer to the character than this shit.
