This has been an ongoing saga in the past 24 hours. Basically if you haven't been keeping up. Nintendo put out their fiscals last night and said they would monitor prices but were not planning to raise prices for the Switch at this time.

This prompted investors to sell off shares and Nintendo Stock has gradually been dipping over the day as investors are NOT happy with Nintendo lowering A) The sales projection of the Switch as they're still dealing with Production issues and B) Did not commit to a price hike.

It seems like pressure is mounting on them to take action and raise prices, sooner rather than later. As Investors continue to react negatively.
I don't see how I raising the price of the Switch would help sell units...

It wouldn't. They cannot even fully match demand so Investors want then to squeeze extra profits put if the existing units despite already making crazy money.

They want Nintendo to join the Fuel, Food, Auto etc industries in price guaging waaaaaay above the actual rate of inflation.

Isnt the switch supposed to be sold at a loss anyways? Its the games that make them the money.

Sony: Gotta raise prices!
MS: We will raise prices, but after holidays!
Nintendo: Maybe one day!

This generation sucks.

There is NO WAY a 2017 console with old ass mobile technology is being sold at a loss. I think investors are just seeing all these other companies increase prices "due to inflation" and want a piece of that pie.

Honestly it astounds me that a 5 and a half year old console is still selling at its launch price. If anything, price should be dropping.

With competition from the mobile market, getting the rare earth materials could boost that cost.

Raising the price at the end of the console's life. Makes plenty of sense.

Prices only have a reason to drop when sales drop due to lack of demand.

I dont think they should raise prices. If they were going to it should have been a year or two when they were impossible to find in stores. The time to raise your prices is when your product is being heavily scalped.
