Over here we have "community service" for minor crimes that don't need prison. Is this just smarmy wording for that?

To be fair, most employers here are paying well above min wage except shit like small mom and pop joints. Bigger employers have started to realize they have to offer more money if they want people to actually show up. This includes traditionally min wage jobs like fast food or grocery bagger etc

Most places are paying around a min of $10/hour here. No idea how that stacks up to other places with our ridiculously low cost of living. I'm renting a 3 bedroom house for $1200/month, for example
