This isn't even true. Puritans were considered religious extremists and a number were caught up in a plan to topple the crown because they believed it was God's will. This resulted in a bunch of them getting a choice, be exiled to start a colony across the ocean or be imprisoned and possibly executed.

It's only historical revisionism (written by white nationalists who happened to be Christian) that made them out to be the victims. But like, think about it critically for a moment. Would a country that's oppressing a religious minority that they hate willingly let them start a new society across the ocean (costing a large fortune in the process) if it were as anything other than a punishment? Keep in mind the history of Australia quite literally being that they were started as a prison colony and they started sending the families of the prisoners over once they had evidence that a colony there would be profitable.

Using the flag as a garment is a violation of the code. Things like wearing it as a cape, repurposing it into a skirt or scarf, etc.

Printing it on a T-Shirt is not.

The flag should never be used as wearing apparel, bedding, or drapery. It should never be festooned, drawn back, nor up, in folds, but always allowed to fall free.

You may have that part confused with how printing images of the flag on items intended to be discarded (Paper plates, napkins, etc.) is a violation.

It should not be embroidered on such articles as cushions or handkerchiefs and the like, printed or otherwise impressed on paper napkins or boxes or anything that is designed for temporary use and discard.

You can have "depictions" for the flag on clothing. You cannot, however, repurpose a flag and use it as a garment.

And the code specifically covers military uniforms:

No part of the flag should ever be used as a costume or athletic uniform. However, a flag patch may be affixed to the uniform of military personnel, firemen, policemen, and members of patriotic organizations.

Absurdly high taxation is unfair. Taxation without representation is unfair. Americans rebelled over a whiskey tax after the American Revolution was over and George Washington had to shut it down. Americans were very anti-tax. Hope this helps.

1. A short term capital gains tax rate at 15% isn't "absurdly high."
2. Short term capital tax gains are typically taxed at the same rate as your income, so the actual rate you're taxed depends on how much money you make in total. The amount of tax you pay on income and short term capital gains increases in certain bands as your total income goes up. Also, there is no 15% band, currently.

Even if you were to pay 15% on your total income and short term capital gains, paying 15% isn't very much compared to what higher bands are.

People who are vehemently anti-tax typically don't seem to complain when they use services that tax dollars support.

• Many areas teach a whitewashed version of history instead of what actually happened
• Schools in the US generally don't teach jack shit about other countries until you get to college

Said indoctrinated people grow up thinking the US is the only place that has "freedom," and get personally offended when people criticize the country. Even when said criticism is made in an effort to improve things in the country.
