Apparently there is now a level cap for each chapter to prevent grinding or something.

That flamscale censor/banned word seems like how I couldn't mention the buzzcocks here (a band) because it contained a banned word. Just dumb. Anyhow I originally did dump on Backlog's Battles review but he actually did do a pretty good job on it (in a different topic on the site I did this) and some other user who eh I still feel indifferent about his review. It's just I think if I buy this game for 50 dollars I'll play it for an hour and lose my attention span because I know everything generally that happens in the story even if there is a lot new to it. I dropped Tactics Ogre on the PSP really fast just because it felt like such a slog.

This one sounds better and knowing the story usually doesn't stop me, but I still feel burned and let down by the PSP version. Plus my own neurosis. I feel like I am not as good at a lot of things anymore.

It does this to try and keep some of the difficulty in check I heard. In the original you had to train up your recruits from scratch each time (there were ways to cheese this but it still involved training). In the PSP all classes leveled together so if you changed class you were back to level 1 and they threw all these worthless skills at you it was a strange game.
