Not going to this shit tbh even if there's a handful of bands I'd like to see. Went to that When We Were Young festival and it was one of the most poorly put together festivals I've ever been to lol

Tickets starting at $19.99 down

Noticed the down part after being confused about tickets starting at $249 lol. How is it even possible to enjoy all the bands in one day? Is it a legit 24 hour 1 stage concert or are there multiple stages and you just have to pick your favorite acts to watch when they go on?

Just read there will be multiple stages and headlining acts could play for up to a hour or more while the rest is TBD. The event will start at 11am and go till 12am.

This will most likely be ran the same way as When We Were Young. So bands will have 25-30 minute sets depending, some bands will have "sound issues" and play 15-20 minute sets lol headliners will have an hour.

Korn, SOAD, Incubus, Deftones, Evanescence, Chevelle, Mr Bungle, Flyleaf, Ville Valo, Ministry, Coal Chamber, Kittie, Soul Fly, POD, Sevendust, hoobastank, AAF, Filter, Melvins, Stabbing Westward, Cold, Cradle of Filth, and Monster Magnet will be great to see live. Id be pissed if I missed any of those acts though and its likely I will because of the multiple stages having to run back and forth to. Id be even more pissed if some of the head liners played on different stages at the same time too.

I havent heard of the rest of the acts besides Papa Roach and some of them I cant read because of the font lol.

That line up actually has an unexpectedly high percentage of enjoyable shit for a nu metal festival. No Limp Biscuit or Kid Rock, but still having the good big names like System of a Down, Deftones, and Chevelle. There are some cool bands, like Incubus (minus very early work), Failure, and the Birthday Massacre, that do not seem like they should be at a nu metal festival, but whatever. With Sisters of Mercy, She Wants Revenge, and Lacuna Coil, there seems to be a big gothic rock/metal theme going as well. No Linkin Park for obvious reasons and I am in full support, as a former big fan of the first two albums, of keeping it that way. Not gonna pay that price or go all the way out to Las Vegas or wherever it is, but it's nice to see some hype still for a lot of these bands and in heavier music in general.

I never went to concerts much and was pretty poor back when these bands had their heyday. If each band was $20 each it'd be a steal for $249 is how I look at it. I decided I'm going to go to Vegas that weekend. I mean if the concert sucks there's at least Fremont street to drown my sorrows lol.

I can only assume all of those bands will be playing their most popular hits so it should be a good time.

I could have been pretty off for that band. I just listened through their catalogue about a year ago and remember lots of ethereal melodies and synthesizers, backed frequently by heavy distorted power chords (the only thing characteristic of nu metal I can recall from them at this time).

id hardly call this a nu metal festival, i dont think id call even a third of the lineup nu metal
tbh i wouldnt even associate this lineup with any genre of music in particular
its literally just "the shit goth kids growing up in the late 90s/early 2000s listened to"

Even though I tend to think of it more as an experimental, heavy psychadelic effort from them, I can recognize why many people think of it as nu metal. A lot of the choruses also seem like they'd fit well with the big meathead bro sound of the time. Make Yourself continued that aspect to an extent.

This is fairly accurate. The bands closer to the top are more indisputably nu metal though, and I hate using the word "goth" in this context, but I know the edgelord kids you're talking about.

Yeah theres nothing really here that stands out as wholly unconnected to whatever nebulous theme of the festival is

honestly in that respect its extremely well-curated

like there arent any sludge metal bands here besides Melvins, and yet I wouldnt say theyre out of place at all

The material I've heard from them (which admittedly is nothing after Pins and Needles) is definitely not a "heavy sound."

They incorporate guitar riffs with distortion, but that's about all they went to in what I've heard.

They're a lot closer to a synth pop/rock band.
