On the one hand, I think the whole situation with Blizzard is even worse than the one with Harvey Weinstein since the higher-ups apparently knew what was going on and actively facilitated it. On the other hand, the one with Weinstein had more far-reaching implications given how comparatively smaller and more centralized the movie industry is, versus the games industry not even being as Americentric let alone California-centric.

I answered games - would've answered films before COVID. Women have more of a foothold in the movie industry now even if there are certain dirtbags who still treat them poorly. In the gaming industry, a lot of rubbish has been exposed where they can't even get a foothold due to many women being ostracized.

How many big-name female game developers can you name?

Oh yeah, that sucks. I also made the mistake of seeing a video response to Anita Sarkeesian's proclamation of victory in terms of having made the industry better where basically every comment acted like the reason the industry sucks is because it's woke. Unbelievable, after all the various scandals elsewhere.

Anita's work in general is garbage, but not in a way that merits such outrage.

There isn't systematic grooming and rape of kids in the games industry. The film industry has improved a lot more than games recently, but there's way more to improve on.

Instinct was film for basically the reasons foolmo stated.

This is a valid point for sure, but again, the film industry was so rotten that even with its recent improvements I don't know if I can say it's gotten far enough out of that hole.

It's easily film, this is not absolving the games industry in the slightest, but there is a century of rot in Hollywood. They've built up better worker protections than the tech industry (except for CGI artists!) but they have all the same problems tech does and more.

That was my first instinct. The issues in film have had longer to like...bed in and become far more systemic.

Also yeah the kids stuff is naturally going to happen more in movies than games.
