I don't even like going out to eat in most situations already. But breakfast, the foods are truly the same kinds of things I'd make at home, but with much less flavor.

Why don't places ever season their eggs, potatoes, etc.

Then you're probably still going to have to wait like 15-30 minutes if you're trying to go out on a weekend morning.

But people just love going out for breakfast and brunch* though.

*I'll admit that brunch is better than regular breakfast since the menu items are more unique.

I skip breakfast most days, protein shake and cup of coffee is all I need. The days where I don't skip breakfast, I usually make it at home on Sunday

Yeah I hate going out to eat period. I don't value food enough to spend 5x the amount on what it's worth so I can sit in a large room full of loud people.

I rarely eat out for breakfast. Lately I've started to treat myself once a week but I'm finding the kind of things you're talking about with the long waits and unseasoned food. Donuts and bagels are good but those are just pure carbs. I like stuff with a protein... honestly it's hard to screw that stuff up, but some of it is just bland.

Like, I'm not one to say that everything needs a huge amount of seasoning, but man. I want something a bit more than just salt and pepper.

Yeah, I don't like getting scrambled eggs at a restaurant. I like to have salt mixed in before they're cooked. The flavor sticks better that way, than salting them after they're already cooked. But I'm sure they do it so that customers have more control over how much seasoning is on their eggs.

Go to the right place and it's awesome. Though, usually my "breakfast" outings are better called brunch or lunch outings. I never go early. I just go to breakfast places like Denny's at lunch time.

I have a feeling the owners having this attitude is probably why places don't spice their foods. Not understanding how to spice things properly without destroying the taste of the food it's on. Instead, gatekeep how you cook food and fail to understand that spices aren't to fix broken food, it's to improve food that is still effected by how well it's cooked to start with.

properly cooked eggs and potatoes dont need seasoning beyond salt and pepper to personal taste
if you need to add spices to get flavor out of dishes that should have plenty of it on their own, they were cooked wrong. egg yolk is very flavorful. properly browned potatoes are very flavorful. if you have a personal preference and like dijon eggs or garlic potatoes or whatever, thats cool you do you. breakfast menus are typically a rather unique combination of sweet foods, savory foods, hot foods, cold foods, fresh fruits, etc, that are all intended to be served together, and simpler flavor profiles help balance the divide. restaurants typically serve with that in mind.

yeah, breakfast foods are my favorite things to cook and i'm pretty damn good at it, so it's almost never worth eating out for it, for me. especially with how expensive everything everywhere is lately. plus, if you wanna go out for breakfast, you gotta get up and get yourself together all early, and ngl i'd rather just cook at home in my sweatpants with my hair all messed up cuz i haven't showered yet and shit and just not worry about it.

and yeah, seasoning your potatoes should be done more often. whether i'm doing home fries or hashbrowns, i throw some sliced white or red onion in there about 2/3s of the way cooking, and either right before i flip the hashbrowns or after i take out the home fries and drain them, i like to season them with salt, pepper, onion powder, paprika, and parsley. it's sooooo good.
