Or is it just a myth that people change back and forth between snow tires in the winter and something else for the summer.

I mean it's almost like this problem is solved by running a single set of all season tires.

LOL, I'm in Canada so yes I change to snow tires on all of my vehicles every winter. You can get away with using all season tires in some places but they're useless if you get a crazy amount of snow which usually happens here.

I would never drive in a Minnesota winter without winter tires on my WRX. They turn it into a beast I feel like I can drive through anything. Heavy snow, ice, slush, handles it all.

You'd be surprised how fun Saabs are to drive in the winter as well.
Heck, they are fun to drive anyway. But a special kind of fun in the snow.

All season tires can't hold a candle to a dedicated set of good snow tires, and my summer tires are performance tires. I'm not going to cripple my car's performance with all seasons.
