Just a PSA, that this is kind of a rant topic. Had a strange encounter at the local Walmart today and was wondering how other people manage ignorant or stupid people. Went to the self checkout registers and had to make two transactions one involving a gift card and one with cash, but the register I went too was card only. I called too an employee, a older woman maintaining the registers and asked her "Hi. Do you know which of these registers currently accepts cash?" and she responded "It should be on the screen.", and I told her "Oh, okay. I went to this register and it doesn't accept cash and I didn't see the no cash message." and she became argumentative saying "No, the message is on the screen." and then when the register I was just using went to standby the "No Cash" message popped up on the screen and she pointed and said "See?". Then I said "Oh, okay well the register wasn't on standby earlier so I didn't see it." and she said something along the lines of "You should have looked." and at this point I had enough.

I loudly said "Ma'am, I literally do not care about wasting time arguing with you! It's pointless. Stop trying to argue with me. Stop disrespecting me and just tell me where are the registers that accept cash right now so I can pay for my stuff and leave!" She then points to a register and I go to pay for my stuff and a younger couple seem shocked that I would do that and she starts talking to them about me. I glance over and say "Hey I wouldn't have done that if she start the argument." and the ass of a guy takes her side and was like "Hey, you didn't need to be so loud." and I said "She was arguing with me." then he kept trying to argue while saying "I should stop talking." and I said he "Should do the same.". She is honestly lucky I didn't go to a manager for her escalating and not simply doing her job.

Ignore them to the best of my ability, or just leave if I can. You never know what another person is capable of and there hasn't been any situation worth sticking around to find out imo. I don't want to hurt or be hurt over something silly.

True. I tend to do that more over more recent years. No point in trying to reason with someone who might not be open to it or just doesn't care.

It kinda sounds like you escalated that for no reason

I didn't. The store was busy, a lot of registers were occupied and I was in a rush. I asked her which registers should I go to and she chose to be petty and I got tired of her bullshit. Had she just pointed in the first place she could have saved herself a lot of words but she woke up and chose to be a bitch today.
