I've never been, but my brother and gf have been multiple times and idk. I don't get the impression they are necessarily good places to be.

But I'm dissociating all the time, and after what happened last night (as per my other thread) I just can't take anymore. Life feels empty and void and colorless right now. But I also don't want to be completely alone while they find a facility to transfer me to. My gf has no way to come see me off. And I have no family down here; the one friend I do have is typically working.

I don't know. I feel like I'm going insane.

If you feel like hurting yourself you absolutely should admit yourself

I was in a mental hospital for 2 months back in 2010

It was... an interesting experience, to say the least

A fee years ago I went to the emergency room for suicidal thoughts. They checked me in to a crisis center or something and the people there got me help for when I left. It wasn't that bad honestly. The violent people were kept in a different place.

I'm doing much better now.

Do you have insurance?

While this is true, I'd much rather TC get the feeling of support from talking to a mental health worker or doctor at an ER, especially as there's lots of possibilities beyond commitment.

Super slash - I'm sure it's hard but taking that first step is usually the hardest...at the very least, call or text 988 (the national mental health crisis line).

Any time I've had therapy it has always been covered by my medicaid.

Yeah it can be good to admit yourself. Sometimes its nice to get away from everything so you can be around people who actively want to help you.

Get reviews of places before you go, if you can. Quality of these places varies wildly.

Things actually completely flipped around overnight, financially.

My gf just got a large sum of money we were not expecting, and a bit more is supposed to come.

This pretty much completely changed everything for the better. I'm doing a lot better today.

Yay!! External life circumstances can definitely play a huge role in how strong mental health symptoms become...

Still, I'd encourage you to talk to a psychiatrist or therapist at some point - not to be committed but to get an outside perspective on the things that led you to feel that low..

I know medicaid fully covers rehab. So idk why it wouldn't cover this.

I'm definitely getting back with one asap. My issues extend beyond just finances.
