A lot of people say that cancellation isn't a real thing, but Kanye's losing billions for making bigoted comments.

Like how idols can lose their fans and thus lose sponsors, basically you can lose a lot of shit if you end up going off like that.

At this point you're just asking for people to not have any consequences as a result of their actions if this is a problem for you.

It's not like he said he didn't like a particular movie or something innocuous.

Cancellation is a thing regardless of what "a lot of people" say.

This racism is a lot more overt than a lot of other cases so hes being cancelled more thoroughly.

When people say "cancelled isn't a thing," they mean it's not a new thing and it's not that serious. People have always voted with their wallets and been let go of contracts due to their actions. People complaining about being "cancelled" act as though they the victim of a targeted attack for no real reason.

90% of the time it doesn't apply to what people think it does.

Alex Jones being kicked off Twitter? He wasn't canceled, he was denied access to a service for not following their rules and guidelines.
Kevin Spacey not being given work while he was being investigated? That's not being canceled, it's facing consequences. Once he's proven innocent he'll get work again.

But people just want to scream "canceled" and "fuck PC culture!" Instead of realizing that things outside of work can and will affect your job.

People are fighting against the idea that innocent celebrities are being cancelled by woke Boogeymen for saying noting bad at all boo hoo, nobody is saying you can do anything ever with no consequences, that would be stupid. But you know that.

Charlie Sheen went off the deep and as well, and I guess you could say I was "present" for that. So yeah sometimes crazy appears and gets canceled. Maybe, that is kind of superstitious.

It proves that actions have consequences and businesses don't have to associate with people with terrible beliefs.

Kanye could never work again a day in his life and retire to lounge on his mountains of money, still living like royalty compared to 99.99% of the people who have ever existed on this planet. He will be just fine. If he wants to be. But he'll probably throw a tantrum like a spoiled brat and start getting financial injections from the MAGA crowd. In which case, he will still be fine. Even when people are "cancelled," they're rarely cancelled. (Which is a shame. It would be nice if people faced actual consequences.)

It proves there are consequences for the things you do and say. If I walked into the president of my company's office and say some fuck shit, im probably out of there. So I dont say fuck shit.

Cancelling as you're using it is a very specific concept and this doesn't fit it. The type of cancelling people complain about is a public or private figure being performatively shunned and attacked for a relatively minor social misstep or political statement.

That's separate from someone being dissociated with by non-bigots for open, blatant bigotry. People can simply react negatively to someone without it being cancelling or cancel culture. That's free association and has been done for all of human history.

If someone goes on TV and says they hate all disabled people, is reacting negatively to that person cancelling them?

It's not that he's being cancelled by keyboard warriors who think they have the sort of power to fire people whenever they want. It's that some people, in this case him is being a terrible piece of shit, and the companies he does business with understandably don't want anything more to do with him.
