I actually liked the Rocks performance more than I thought I would. I mean he wasnt outstanding or anything (I think Pierce Brosnan takes that award), but he carried the the movie well enough. Its also kind of refreshing in a way to see a person who actually looks like a superhero when you put a suit on him. His build definitely does a lot of the superhero acting for him.

The plot was also a lot better than I expected it to be. There were no dull parts, despite it being fairly long. The plot itself felt a bit more elevated than what one might come to expect too. Nothing particularly deep, but for my entertainment value it kept me invested.

Some of the side characterstried. The kid got kinda annoying by the end. The wind chick and the atom smasher were such jobbers that seemed kind of shoehorned in. Almost could have done without them but theyre fine I suppose. They did some things.

But that being said. This is some of the best superhero action youll see on screen. Every single fight scene is worth watching, well shot, well choreographed, and has some interesting element about it.

Idk what the general consensus is, but i highly recommend going to see it if you can.

it was aight. had my usual DCEU gripes about it though.

I'll admit, I did enjoy it as dumb fun but it honestly felt like a typical MCU film by the third act with a forgettable villain and it being a CGI fest and all. It definitely exceeded my expectations, I was expecting a cinematic disaster tbh.

Ill wait for HBO, but looking forward to seeing it

and excited for the future of the dc universe

I want to see it and thought about going to the theater but I keep putting it off. I don't really like going to the theater these days. I'll probably end up waiting for hbo max. I do think it looks good from the trailer. I don't understand why it got so much hate

There were connections. The wizard Shazam that gave Billy his powers appeared in the flashbacks. Waller. Justice League toys, comics, toys, and posters in the kids room. Of course the big one in post credits with Superman.

Best part is when an 8 year old and random towns folk were killing spawns of hell with pipes and cloth hangers.

Ehh, I thought it was pretty decent (read as good for DC standards) but I still prefer Shazam! and The Suicide Squad.

I dont mean a lack of general connections. Its great that the council of wizards is there. Amanda Waller. Supes. All the DCEU stuff is fine. But especially because his powers come from the same wizard. He says the same magic word. Its so fuckin weird they didnt establish one direct connection to Billy Batson. Not one line from the Justice Society. Not even an end credit stinger
just weird

I hope Dr. Fate becomes a legacy character. It would be a shame for Pierce's appearance to be a one and done.

A good comparison, especially because the characters shared the same name from DC and Marvel, would be like Ms. Marvel not referencing Captain Marvel/ Carol Danvers at all.

It's a fun movie honestly. I enjoyed all the characters. The villain was kind of dumb though.

The last thing we need in that movie is a shoehorn reference that ultimayely served no purpose but to give nods to previous movies like what mcu did recycling quips and line and even turned one one of the worse disaster in mcu into an ice cream shop stand.

It was fun, and I was happily surprised with how solid The Rocks's performance was, but the movie felt very unfocused, and while Pierce Brosnan was fantastic casting for Doctor Fate, I don't fully love how they handled his character.

This is you problem, you want to put billy batson in there somewhere just to satisfy ur checkmark cravings like u had in mcu. I saw no one bringing this "issue" until u did. U can't have an ok movie and be done with it. U still want ur silly easter eggs superstitions like its even matter.

i suppose im willing to give it a shot but i dunno whether to wait for it to be on HBO Max or watch it in theaters...

Its a really good popcorn movie man. Go on a cheap night if your theatre does that and enjoy.

Also keep in mind. We just went through a time when everything closed and we couldnt do things like go to the theatre anymore. Treat yourself. Life is too short.

I just watched it and definitely felt it was worth the money. It's pretty action packed and surprisingly brutal (not bloody). Not top tier but I thought it was solid enough.
