This so far has been the most convenient thing that came up in recent years. In my country it works with many banks as long as they provide mobile apps (most banks do to the point of being obnoxious) or 3rd party paying method. No need for cash or card. I have been using it to pay for grocery, vets, to street food hawkers. Surprised this doesn't take off more in the west.

E-payment caught up pretty fast over here too. I haven't withdrawn any cash from ATMs in months now. It makes bill splitting so convenient as well.

America for whatever reason hasn't adopted QR codes much at all. They're used often in other countries. They exist in the US, but hardly anyone uses them
