i'm tired of having this piece of shit 30 dollar Walmart Family Mobile phone with its terrible camera. i am hopefully going to be able to afford a better one soon, once i am able to get back on with my physical therapy routine and get to a point with my chronic lower back pain where i can move forward with my small business plans. part of getting that off the ground is going to be getting a phone with a good quality camera, and probably a dedicated actual camera too, and i've been trying to research which ones to get, but there are so many, and everyone seems to have a different opinion.

one thing that i am not open to is any Apple product. i have never been and will never be an Apple guy. i sub to MKBHD on Youtube, and i know he really likes the Pixel's camera. so, what does CE say? what is the best camera on a smartphone? and if you know anything about cameras, what are some good professional cameras that are not too hard on the budget? say like 500-600 bucks.

Skip the professional cameras and just go for the Pixel 7 Pro. I've seen multiple comparisons of it with high end DSLR cameras and the Pixel 7 Pro is neck and neck for the most part.

Unless you're 100% sure you'll need a DSLR.

iirc Google Pixel has a decent camera lens but amazing photo taking software that enhances the photos after you take them. But this was a while back and I'm not sure if it is the same for the current Pixel.

This is my understanding too; I think you can get the software on other android phones too if you wanted.

well i'm not entirely sure tbh. i am going to hopefully be renting some space in a commissary kitchen to make my mini-cheesecakes and sell them out of a pop-up booth, starting off hopefully with the local college town farmer's market and then maybe other venues from there. i'm going to launch a social media platform for it and have regular social media promotions and everything, so i'm going to want to be able to take really good photos of things, both the cheesecakes themselves and the events.

i have some seed money already, sort of, that i can use, because back when i worked at Walmart for 9 years i was contributing to an employer matched 401k, and after i left i never really did anything with that and didn't even look it up to see how much was in there until earlier this year. after the taxes and fees and penalties i'll have to pay to withdraw it, it's less than $10k, but that should be enough to get things going initially, if i plan out and budget everything. so if i can get away with just using a phone camera, if it's good quality, and not have to buy a dedicated camera, then i think i will probably just do that. but maybe i should get a good quality camera too, anyway. i really don't know.

yeah this is what i heard about the new Pixel 7 too, especially that it has a feature where it can un-blur photos. that seems pretty cool. hopefully though blurriness won't be too much of an issue. i plan to get a tripod or camera mount or whatever for taking pictures with that i'm going to upload to my business' social media platform, to keep it steady.

iPhone videos are better but still photos belong to Pixel. The 6 and beyond are the best right now but even my 6a is excellent with the last-gen lens. If your goal is the best Android picture phone, the Pixel is the easy answer, though other phones can take good pics too.

good to know. are the Pixel's videos not too far behind the iPhone, or what? what makes the iPhone videos so much better?
