Taylor Swifts new music video is causing a lot of conversation and debate online.

In the newly released video for Anti-Hero, featured on her new album Midnights, one scene finds Taylor stepping on a scale to reveal the word FAT.

The music video features a reference to her battle with an eating disorder, showing herself stepping onto a weighing scale that reads FAT. A second version of herself is standing beside her, looking shameful at the weight.

Taylor has previously spoken about battling an eating disorder, and facing scrutiny for her appearance as a pop star.

Its not good for me to see pictures of myself every day. Its only happened a few times, and Im not in any way proud of it. The inclusion of the scale scene in the Anti-Hero music video has garnered criticism.

ive struggled with anorexia and bulimia my whole life and ive never once felt like i was thin "enough". i got down to 113 lbs at one point (im about 5'10'') and still felt like I looked overweight. i used to refuse to leave the house if id eaten that day. would occasionally go up to two weeks without eating. ive chilled out about it somewhat now, but if my scale reads high it makes me wanna stick my head in the toilet

Seems like the whole thing could have been avoided by just having the scale say "WRONG" or something to that effect instead.

Regardless of how relevant you feel their struggles are.

It's not the job of other people to sanitize your media for you. Viewing yourself as fat seems to me like a perfectly reasonable expression of anorexic body issues based on what I know about the disorder.

I'm just proposing a basic ten second fix that would have sidestepped the issue entirely without getting into the perfectly valid feelings on either side of the issue.

It's not my place to judge how either side of the weight issue feels about their own life story, but facilitation can be done regardless.

Literally a reference to an eating disorder--meaning that she's NOT fat, she just perceived herself that way, which is the whole point of the scene.

I'd strike it as less likely than having the video say "fat and that is a bad thing," which is what the other people are reacting to regardless of CE's opinion on the validity of the viewpoint.

Fat people dont need to have it reiterated yet again that its everyones worst nightmare to look like us.

It is barring her actuality having an eating disorder and body dysmorphia.
