It's a reflection exercise where I was supposed to ask people to give me positive feedback with concrete examples about things like leadership. I didn't do it for whatever reason (laziness perhaps or fear of reaching out) so now I'm just imagining what some of these people might have said about me and writing that. Pretty strange experience to then 'derive' conclusions from that 'feedback'. Based on a group chat and what I've heard a lot of others in the class are doing the same thing because people didn't respond in time or whatever reasons.

Im sure plenty of people do things like that. Making up some poll questions, and then just deciding what the likely make up of answers would be. No teacher/professor is likely to investigate deeply, as long as things seem relatively accurate.

Those kind of assignments are just bogus anyway. Its teaching you more how to bullshit a paper than any real skill.

Is this in a work context?

Like, Doe, it would be really good if you are clearer with your feedback. Youre quite positive with offering constructive feedback, but sometimes I dont quite get what you *mean*

Edit: oh sorry, positive. So youre not supposed to reflect on what you could improve.

It's supposed to be from several sources. Summer job, peers at college, family members. But it's supposed to go towards leadership.

Weird assignment though. So youre just supposed to be all self congratulatory?

here's the overview
Background: The Reflected Best Self Exercise (RBSE) is a personal development tool founded
in the research of Robert E. Quinn, Jane E. Dutton, and Gretchen M. Spreitzer to provide people
insights about their unique talents at work.
Task: Utilizing the four steps outlined in the article How to play to your strengths that you
read for this class, reflect on the strengths of yours that will be critical to your work roles
(present and future). Successful papers will integrate the feedback received from others along
with course contents and materials.
Annoying thing is that the details sort of contradict themselves about the length and where certain pieces should go. Procedural shit always slows me down more than the content part.

Are there any exemplars on the net where people have applied the RBSE? You could use them as a launching off point, just with your own examples.

Sounds a lot like shit Ive had to do, just with different jargon.

One of the example I used was being extremely open to feedback from superiors, colleagues and people who report to me. Just chucking in some clever verbiage around I dont have an ego around things that can improve my capabilities or performance, etc.

This is silly because giving my prof something to think about was generally a lower grade than writing about literature instead

I had to do something similar, except the professor made us record the conversations, transcribe them, and submit both the recordings and transcription with the paper. I guess she had caught on lol
