It was also the real start of the story not willing to make any sense or really be good for that matter. Just because it's complicated and using a bunch of made up lingos, doesn't mean it's well-written. It also fails at making us relate to most of the characters, even making most of the original cast weaker. KH1's more grounded storytelling made it easier to connect to Sora and his friends and even find a different angle to appreciate Donald and Goofy. But I hesitate to think of a single fucking significant thing they did in KH2 lol I genuinely liked Chain of Memories better, cuz at least that one had a unique thing going for it. It's also the reason anybody cared about Axel to begin with. KH2 does a pretty shitty job of setting him up when I try to think why I liked him in the first place.
