Ever since Covid, I use Amazon Fresh delivery almost exclusively. I tried instacart 2 times and they replaced or refunded like 90% of my selections, which is annoying as hell. Never again with them.

I've gone in person like 2 or 3 times, because there are some things Amazon doesn't carry. But I go to a grocery store in a nicer neighborhood. The one near me sucks ass.

Used delivery once when I had covid. Used curbside pickup a few times but 99% of the time it's the old fashioned way.

I live like two minutes from Walmart, so it's just easier and cheaper to go myself.

It's true that some people cannot physically do their grocery shopping in-person.

Though the lazy whiner in the initial post clearly isn't one of them.

Did curbside pickup through Instacart during most of the Pandemic. Wife would put in the order before we went to bed and I'd pick it up the next day during one of my work breaks. We no longer had to schedule a grocery trip together and they only charged a $3 fee. Great.

Then my wife noticed the grocery stores started charging higher prices for food on Instacart vs getting it in store. That's when we quit and went back to in-person grocery shopping.

exclusively in-person. the only thing i use online for with groceries is to clip all the Just For U coupons on my Vons account and to look at the weekly ad and other deals, and to redeem reward points and stuff. they have an "add to cart" option there but i don't use it. i just make a list and go.

the argument for food delivery services like the tweets in the OP is kinda wack tbh. i get where they are coming from with disabled people, but nobody is so busy that they don't EVER have time to go to the grocery store. they either just don't want to bother with it, or are lacking in the ability to plan and budget out their time effectively. they are probably the same kind of people who spend hours a day scrolling through twitter or instagram on their phones.

also food delivery services are just bad for a lot of things because you are unable to pick out the exact fruits and vegetables or packaged meats or deli items or whatever that you want. every item that can have any possible variation in it that's not just mass produced and packaged all the same, is something i would rather be able to pick out for myself. also i don't know about every delivery app, but the ones i've looked at or heard about don't allow you to take advantage of membership programs and the savings and rewards they offer. that's ridiculous. so not only are you paying ridiculously high fees and tips for the delivery service itself, but you are unable to save any money by shopping the personalized deals and rewards. those amount to quite a hefty savings if you are smart with it.

I pretty much just do my own shopping. Thinking of looking into places like Amazon, Walmart, or Target or wherever for like packaged goods and then just going to the store for produce and refrigerated / frozen stuff, if they end up being cheaper.

That was definitely one of the perks of working at a grocery store lol. As much of a shitty job as it is, Im actually glad I was working there during the beginning of the pandemic. I got to make sure I ordered what I liked from my dept. and I would also be able to get some of the items that would typically sell out fast (not even for me, but for my parents)
