"I didn't do any research on a car and it broke down. yes its a 10 year old car with no service history and yes its a Nissan with a CVT transmission but why doesn't it work like factory new?! Carvana sucks and i hate them!"

i spent 2 days combing through their website to find a car with a good service history (oil changes every 5kish miles, regularly brought into the dealership, not from up north where road salt for snow hasn't eaten up the undercarriage of the car, obviously no accidents or whatever), mileage that makes sense, not a leased car or rental car, 1 owner, and IS A TOYOTA OR HONDA

found one bought it. now i wait. obviously there's still time for them to screw it up, but you're setting yourself up for failure if you fail to do the most basic research!

I've seen some horror stories from Carvana but also yeah if you do the minimal vetting of the vehicle I don't see how it goes that wrong lol.

Buying used is always a gamble. Carvana is better than dealing with a pushy dealer.

I'd be surprised if that was a legit Carvana issue they had. You get up to 7 days to decide whether or not you want to keep the car after signing the paper work.

If you ever want to go the route of buying used cars, I would highly suggest you bring somebody who knows cars with you and getting them to check it out and see if it's a good buy

Even better if you can get them to let you test drive it for an afternoon and take it to your mechanic. That way any warning lights they've bypassed should come back on.

I sold my 2015 Dodge Dart with 95k miles to them for about $9000 back in February. It had a ton of issues that were springing up including the entire suspension needing to be replaced so I figured when they pulled up to take it they'd see how bad it was and lower the offer but the guy literally just looked at it and was like "yep that's a Dart" and made sure it started and handed me the check

Maybe they have a much better inspection/repair process after that

from what i read, they "inspect" it and get fix up issues. On my inspection chart, it says they fixed the rear view mirror (????).

OR they just give you the car, and when issues spring up, you have 100 days (or 4k miles) to warranty the issues and get them fixed for free. honestly, this isn't such a bad thing. if my transmission blows up a month later, which is like a 3-4k job, its fixed for free.

what other dealership would do that?

I looked up my Dart's VIN and found it listed on their site (not available anymore but it's still there - fuckers sold it for about 14k lol)

Shows they replaced the tires and the rearview mirror (lolwut, it was fine) and fixed up some cosmetic issues like a few dents and scratches I had

Says the suspension passed inspection which is a shock to me

yeah and i research buying a used 2015 dart, everyone says stay away lol.

but like i said, next guy can just put in a warranty for a new suspension, assuming they get an inspection done (like you SHOULD) and are told it needs to be replaced. time consuming, but free.

Not really sure why anyone would want to buy from Carvana when they could just go to CarMax.

My sister bought a car from them and the interest rate was astronomical. My pops and I told to her to immediately bring it back.

carvana had the car i wanted for cheaper (carmax around me only has new models and more expensive trims outside of my budget)

also carmax is like, a 20 minute drive from me. id have to take an uber or something to pick it up. rather just have it brought to me.

if only 5%, 10%, 20% of their products are a smart purchase that does kinda seem like a shitty company

no i just mean, are you saying that if only 20% of their stock are actually good cars, its a bad business?

because you could say that of any used car dealership.

you're still right. its a scummy business, but its the entire used car industry.

my only alternative is buying from a private seller, but you typically can't get loans for those.
