I hate when that happens. Last weekend I decided to play ToeJam and Earl III again since its the 20th anniversary. I happened to pick a weekend when I didnt really have anything going on (first world problem lol) and I practically beat the game that weekend (played a lot on Friday and Saturday, then finished the last little bit on Sunday after work).

I had fun playing it but I definitely went through it quicker than I meant to. Might need to play it again and actually savor it.

I swear it took a lot longer when I was younger

Happens often enough in visual novels. Oops didn't find the trigger for the path I wanted to go down, time to reload from earlier.

Chrono Trigger during my second playthrough. At the time I didn't realize there were multiple endings and you could fight Lavos almost immediately.

In order to beat the game, you need to both kill the Master and destroy the vats, both of which are in completely different locations far from each other. Did both happen by accident?

I have the exact opposite issue.

If a games par time is say, 10 hours. I am gonna spend 15-20 hours just wandering and exploring.

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1+2

I'd never played the originals, only 3 and 4, so I expected a lot more content. Really enjoyed it though, just wish they had released all 4 games in one collection for it to last a lot longer.

When I was a kid, I beat Bugs Bunny Crazy Castle the day I got it. Even funnier was afterwards, I noticed one of the promo screenshots on the back of the game box showed the password for the last level.

I know exactly what you mean, that has happened to me before.

In general though I always savor the games I play and do a lot of faffing about, exploring the world, every nook and cranny, before continuing with the main story. I expect to spend half of next year on just AC Odyssey alone when I finally start it up

I wouldn't say "beaten", but I did reach an ending in Disgaea and unlocked NG+ super quick.

Grinded out coins for "Baby Mode" in Pocky & Rocky Reshrined, and blew through it twice.
No way I'm going back to play it "for real". Unlikely to bother with 2-player, as the 'baby mode' doesn't exist there for some reason.

The worst is playing a game for a few hours one day, stopping thinking you're getting close to the last third or fourth, then coming back the next day and the game is over in half an hour.

Yes. When I played Demon's Souls a few years ago I got really into it for a while, I kept telling myself I'd dedicate the run to getting a certain world tendency, attacking NPCs for loot/doing their quests before True Allant but ended up making a beeline for the end as fast as possible and going straight into the next NG+ cycle. There were times I'd beat him and go "No wait I forgot the thing I planned to do, did seriously just accidentally beat a game?"
I kept jumping down the big hole instead of talking to Maiden in Black too.

It's been a full year and I'm still disappointed there was only so much to do in Xenoblade DE. I would rather have more stuff to do in the game than any sequels. I don't know if it counts as accidentally beating the game too fast but I bent over backwards to try and do every entertaining thing I could think of and at some point I caved and decided to see the ending and NG+. More than anything I was disappointed I'd put a lid on my one and only first run through.

I beat Pikmin 3 in like three days when it came out. I was out of work on disability, so I had all the time in the world lol and I expected it to be more like Pikmin 2 where it was super padded out with caves and took a long time to beat but nope lol

I do that a lot.

I usually make myself stop right at the end to think about what other things I might wanna do and then take a long time to get back, do what I want and finish the game.

Final Fantasy VII.

Didn't pay enough attention at the start of the last disc, and went straight to the end without leaving to finish side missions and explore.

It seriously did not feel like the game was going to be THAT short. It seemed like it was just getting started, and then...that was it.

...and then beat it too fast, by farting though the second act.

There's some samurai game on PS2 (Way of the Samurai?) you can beat pretty quickly by just ignoring the village you're supposed to help, haha. I think I did that once when I rented it.
