As a kid reading Prisoner of Azkaban it's like "Oh, cool! I get to imagine I'm in this school of cool magic people and there's a serial killer that just tried to kill one of the kids!" Like the danger of it all is thrilling, and the youthful sense of invulnerability makes the prospect of a 13 year old fighting a mass-murdering witch man seem cool rather than daunting.

...Reading it as an adult and it's like "Ah fuck, imagine trying to actually manage all these kids with a fucking live shooter running around with a public grudge against one of our students, and the fucking soul-sucking ghosts right outside giving everyone chronic depression, and now we gotta babysit these anklebiters because that dumb fuck painting and Neville Longbottom never got the memo about password security. Why in the god damn do we even have a password system fucking Scheherazade already illustrated why its a bad idea with Ali Baba like a million years ago FUCK I do not get paid enough for this BULLSHIT"

that's why, as an adult, I generally read things that were written for adults
