i originally planned on waiting for the ps5 but all this time later and it's still expensive/hard to get.
A refurbished PS4 would be ~$250

Eh, $250 seems pricey for last generation, IMO. If you missed out on that generation, Id still hold out for a PS5. That way, you can play PS4 & PS5 games. Additionally, for $60, you get access to the PS+ Collection, which is like 20 AAA games.

Weird to say, but I think the better value is in the PS5, if you can get one.

Wait for a PS5. That way you get access to the current gen games, plus previous gen. And as has been said, with the PS+ collection, you get access to a ton of AAA PS4 games. It's a great way to catch up on what you missed.

Neh. Ps5 is worth the extra effort and money. You don't have to worry that the game you're buying is just an afterthought version. Performance differences are worth it even if both play the games good enough.

Yeah, just hold out on finding a PS5, especially since PS4's still cost that much. I know FOMO sucks, but it would probably end up being worse if you just got a PS4 at this point

A new PS4 Pro maybe, but other than that I wouldn't do it.

If think so, there's a lot of games to choose from at this point. At this point you can get a lot of them for around $5. Just go to a local shop. Avoid Gamestop that is overpriced.

I got my PS5 by just checking in on Wario64 periodically. Its a Twitter feed that provides details on game sales and availabilities. Just refresh the page every now and then, and eventually he will have the latest news on when specific sites have PS5s available:

Check PlayStation Direct once in a while. Currently, I think they still have the Call of Duty Modern Warfare II pre-order bundle in stock (PS5 disc console), but the other ones have been restocked rather frequently too and don't sell out nowhere near as fast as they use to.
