This whole game has been piss easy (just like OG Gen IV) and then out of the blue the Elite Four drops the fucking gauntlet on you.

Cynthia's Garchomp is very nearly unstoppable

It's the best part of the game I only won because of the broken affection mechanics

This time I believe Cynthia's teams is completely EV trained with perfect IVs

Had my Mew ready with Ice Beam to take out Garchomp.

Except Garchomp outsped him and OHKO'd him.

If their affection is low enough do they give up out of spite from weak attacks?

I didn't have a problem with Cynthia, but that's because my wonder guard clefable set up for days against her spiritomb >_>

Flint and his Minimize-Baton Pass Drifblim can go **** himself.

It took me like 15 tries to beat Cynthia because I was too proud to go back and grind (and also had a ****-tier team)

Its the only part of the game that seems to be built around the experience share mechanic. I spent the previous like 4 badges worth of content ducking every trainer I could because it was so easy up that point and I wanted something of a challenge.

Then I spent like 4 hours training for the elite 4.

The only good thing about OG diamond/pearl is that the Elite 4 and Champion are way harder. They toned them down in Platinum. Otherwise Platinum is better in every other way

I did a Nuzlocke on my playthrough of BD. I managed to beat the main E4 without losing a single Pokmon, but Cynthia wiped me even before Garchomp came out.

Fuck Flint and fuck fans of Flint!

I thought this game was absolutely terrible (admittedly I hated Diamond and Pearl back when they came out) up until the E4.

Man, if they had a hard mode that used E4's level of difficulty? That'd be great.

At the very least, Drifblim can't kill anything with its moveset. Not that it's helpful in a hard-core nuzlocke and even if you poison it before it can minimize it won't help much if he has healing items left.

Is Cynthia's spiritomb still weak? You can basically get a free setup on it with X items and healing even if you're at a level disadvantage

I struggled against her Milotic. My team was NOT prepared for something with high Defenses & Recover.

I heard in the OG game Cynthia had a smarter AI than normal opponents.

X items really are overpowered on every level and the fact they buffed them in gen 7 is horrible design fuckery. It's why I don't allow items in any nuzlockes, even my more casual ones.

She's pretty much the only challenging fight in the entire franchise, so it's not too surprising lol

Forced affection really took the challenge out of things.

There were several points when the Elite Four had me, but then suddenly "Actually, your Pokemon isn't burned" or "Actually, your Pokemon didn't faint".

That explains why I don't remember it being that hard. I only played Platinum back in the day.

It is the same. All the E4 in this game I think. All EV trained and with good natures for their intended roles.

Similar to Mew, Jirachi requires that players have save data associated with their account from Pokemon Sword or Pokemon Shield. In the same place that you just picked up Mew, speak to the man standing next to the woman and hell hand you Jirachi, a Pokemon that was once so rare, you had to buy a game on a completely different system to obtain it.

In order to get the 151st Pokemon Mew, youll need to make sure that the account youre playing Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pear on has saved data from Pokemon Lets Go Pikachu or Pokemon Lets go Eevee. However, unlike those games, you do not have to have owned the Poke Ball Plus in order to obtain the legendary. All you need to do is play the game long enough that you can save it, meaning if your friend has a copy, you can borrow it, play for a few minutes and then save, earning yourself a Mew.

Cynthia was the first legitimately difficult final boss.

Gen 1 (Surely no one here is unaware it's Blue right?):: You've already beaten their Pokemon before, they're just higher level now.

Gen 2: Lance isn't that difficult.

Gen 3: Steven is cool, but Blaziken sweeps most of his team. Even without that, you don't hear too many people having a ton of trouble with him.

If you get to Wallace without knowing how to deal with water types, I don't know what to tell you.

Cynthia is the first Champ where you just get your ass handed to you, even if you have some idea what to do. I came in blind, and only my Crobat could survive a hit. It took a lot of Flys, Confuse Rays, and praying Dragon Rush missed.

Gen 5 also had an infamous final boss.
And Iris leads with Ghetsis' ace in the sequel.

Then X and Y gave us a piss easy champion...

I always thought gen 3 elite four was pretty tough. I was also very underleveled when I challenged them, and I refused to use Groudon

Yes and youll highly likely get some random legendaries from the global trading feature. I got a shiny Deoxys by trading the in-game trade Abra.

i was slightly underleveled and swept them thanks to affection healing status, randomly dodging otherwise 100% accurate attacks (my roserade just went "i luv u twainer " and dodged mirror coat from milotic) and surviving what would've otherwise been knockouts
