Some are 6 months, some 8 think I saw one was 10 but essentially all of phase 6 got pushed back because work on Blade movie is halted and they recently lost their director. This includes new Mcu additions like Deadpool 3.

The Blade movie is doomed to suck since they're making it generic PG-13 MCU crap for an obviously R property all about murdering vampires.

There absolutely no reason a vampire movie really needs to be R-rated. Killing them causes them to burn up or turn to dust. That won't change if it's PG-13.

It's so nice having pulled the eject handle after endgame. It was a nice logical ending point for the series without having to deal with getting hyped up for cashgrab "season 7 of the office" type movies that only exist to keep the gravy train running as long as possible instead of being that good.

There must be some really big problems with Blade yeah? Didn't Ant-Man change directors and nothing got delayed?

No, it was delayed also. As I've said elsewhere, this is no different than what happened after Phase 1. They announced projects that were later cancelled or reshuffled.

Right, it comes with the territory of trying to plan out and announce these movies 3-4 years in advance, gotta take those initial dates with a grain of salt

Blade 2 used CGI to have the vampires burn to dust, but the movie also had scenes heavily involving lots of blood that got it an R rating. Without those scenes the movie would lose a lot of the impact of the brutality of the main bad guy.

Blade for me is in the same area as Punisher in the sense you need overly violent and graphic images to really do it justice in staying true to the comics.

I'm not discounting what Blade did. But it's also not necessarily required, which is my point. You can still show the villains as being brutal with a lower rating. But of course, this is all subjective.

Vader was pretty brutal in Obi Wan for PG 13 content. I have faith Disney wont ruin it just because there wont be blood everywhere. Even the recent werewolf special had blood and dismemberment and decapitation and such without being gratuitous.

PG-13 Blade sounds like the dumbest idea ever.

The original Blade movies really weren't all that gory outside of a few select scenes. The vampires mostly just disintegrated into ash when they got dismembered.

I mean, NOTHING in those movies were nearly as brutal as, say, Black Bolt's death in Multiverse of Madness.

Blade comics don't even typically go hard R, they're typically more PG13-ish so a PG13 Blade could totally work.

The original movies mostly got hit for the language, and the R/PG-13 scale has slid quite a bit since then, they can get away with more now so people should probably chill with the PG13 fears.

To be fair I did love MoM and it's my favorite of the new Marvel movies. If Blade comes out with a similar style to that movie I'll probably be happy. I'm still doubtful it will be better than the original movie though.

A PG-13 rating means only one non-sexual "fuck" can be used in the script.

Utterly unacceptable, some motherfuckers always tryna ice-skate uphill.

I dunno. There tends to be a difference between a vampire movie that's PG13 and R.

Vampires look a lot more animalistic and terrifying when they're are ripping throats with their mouths.

The comparisons with the original are going to overall be unique to this MCU movie though. There was nothing to tame down with Spider-Man. Once a movie franchise is R it tends to be tough scaling it back. Usually it is seen as a negative. Wouldn't surprise me if the goal of getting PG13 is a source of conflict internally for this movie. But I'm fine giving them the benefit of the doubt.

The Werewolf By Night special also had onscreen dismemberment, gore, etc.,

Granted, they were only able to get away with it because it was in black and white. But stuff like that and MoM at least shows Marvel can get creative with the violence to get around the PG-13 rating

When it comes to MoM a lot of that credit is owed to Sam Raimi really. He has always been good at that and even snuck in some horror in his Spider-Man movies.

But he's also an expert in that cheesy sort of classic horror kind of way. Which doesn't really fit what people think of Blade. It's gonna be tricky. Even in the sense that the pop culture image of Blade is so ingrained with what was cool and badass in the late 90s.
