yesterday's dinner, pizzas on these premade rectangular crusts that i got on the discount bakery rack for 2 bucks, and some sundried tomato and parmesan focaccia bread that i made into cheesy bread on the side.

the pizzas were a mixed bag, because i used jarred spaghetti sauce for one of them that didn't taste very good, although the toppings for it were alright, pepperoni, sausage, red onion, and bellpepper. i should have taken the time to add seasonings to the jarred sauce that i would use for my own homemade recipe of marinara sauce, but i didn't feel like taking the time to do that. but the other was really good, it was a BBQ chicken pizza with Sweet Baby Ray's for the sauce, a mixture of mozzarella, cheddar, and pepper jack cheeses, grilled chicken strips, red onion, and diced jalapenos on top.

the cheesy bread was okay, but the sundried tomatoes gave it a bit too sweet of a flavor for my tastes. also it came out kind of doughy and undercooked even though i followed the directions exactly.

Honestly when I started making my own sauce i never went back to jarred sauce. You can really make a solid sauce quickly and easily with just tomato paste, garlic, some spices and a bit of oil and it's better (Also much cheaper).

I made myself breakfast the other day. Peameal bacon, eggs and toast.

It was good but I make it pretty often so it wasn't anything special.

The last thing I actually cooked that was not quick boxed/frozen things on weekdays after work was last weekend I made caramel brownies and also egg fried rice with char siu pork. When I make stuff I make as much as I can from scratch. Like I made the caramel, made the brownie batter, and went to the Asian market and got a new wok spoon, rice, and the pork. Unfortunately I did have to buy char siu sauce because I could not find the spices to make my own, normally I'd make my own sauce aswell.

Sorta, it was rice and orange chicken. I made the rice, but the chicken was already breaded, I just had to pan fry it a little.

It was decent.

My girlfriend is entirely vegetarian so we already didn't cook fish or meat in general, and I'm honestly fine with it. For fish more specifically, it's often overharvested and extremely hard to track where it's from specifically. There are very few ethical fishing labels that can really be trusted. Fish farms are absolutely disgusting environments too, so I don't want none of that. I'd rather just avoid it altogether at this point even if I do crave a good fish n chips sometimes.

I made chilli last night where I blended my own guajillos, anchos, and Thai Chili's. I cubed a chuck roast instead of using ground beef. Two cans of kidney beans It was pretty good and had just enough spice to piss off my girlfriend .

I'm dreading cleaning the Dutch oven

oyster mushrooms and steak cubes in jerk sauce with rice. the mushrooms were hard to eat because the tops shrivel and you're just left with a slimy worm-like stem. i recommend cooking mushrooms in an air fryer or convection oven to make them crispy, then add them to what you're cooking last
