yeah not really many of those around anymore, do you miss them? putting all your quarters in etc....

Every arcade nowadays has a bar. Unless that's always been a thing?

yes, I missed so much.

arcade bars didn't have the same feel.

We still have regular arcades in Japan but I only play Taiko no Tatsujin.

Yes i miss the comraderie. Thats something these youngsters will never understand. Its all about online now. Playing with people you will never meet. The closest i get to the olden days is during evo when people have open tourneys in their hotel rooms.

There's a place close by that has hundreds nof old arcade and pinball games for free play, it's actually called Free Play. You just pay a cover to get in but all the games are free.

I occasionally take my daughter to Dave Buster's for their games.

theres a giant Round one at the mall near me. i went once because our friends' kids were having a party. it was great.

The arcade was where I mostly played the Simpsons arcade game.

Round One has been opening rapidly throughout the US. They have lots of games.

Classic arcades pop up here and there too.

I go to the arcade every week or so here (Japan).

They exist, they just dont really have stuff like Ninja Turtles or Simpsons now.

yes! fucking so much yes. especially fighting games. i used to actually be good at fighting games when i was the big fish in the small pond of my local arcade. the feeling of having your win streak displayed on screen, completely wrecking the guy you're facing, having half a dozen or more guys in line behind him, and knowing that every one of them are burning holes in the back of your head with their heads and thinking "holy shit i don't want to face that guy".... it was one of the best feelings i ever experienced in my youth.

now ever since fighting games went online and i've gotten slower, i just can't compete. i don't even play fighting games anymore lol.

I have about 7-8 arcade games at home, but I haven't played them in a while.

Honestly, every couple of years I get really nostalgic for it and spend a couple of days straight playing in the arcade. But I spend a lot more time playing NES and SNES games. Not sure how much longer I'll be keeping the arcade machines.

I believe there is one stand alone arcade still here but its been a while since i been to that side of town. We have places like DB & Main Event but its not quite the same.

I said arcade, not online.

I miss the feeling of video games having something in public that home tech couldn't compare to.

The atmosphere was fun but the games are pretty shallow.

Having been to one recently, eh, not really. Games themselves are shit and designed to ramp to unfair difficulty after you're invested. The only nice thing is the social part of coop games.

I miss air hockey, dome hockey, the free throw game, pinball......those were always a hella good time.

No i dont really "miss" the arcade places with the arcade games because these days arcade games are still around with places like Dave and Busters and the Fun Zone areas at Pizza Ranch

Yes. Recently gameworks closed near me and I used to go there all the time to play arcade games.

I liked arcades when I was younger, but it's not something I have a lot of interest in these days. Although I would go if someone invited me. I'd rather go to a pool hall or go bowling or something like that.

I loved arcade years ago in my teens but its not all that exciting anymore. It's mostly because most of these new arcade games just don't do anything for me. The games from the 90s and 2000s were way better.

Have mixed feelings...

Was obsessed with Donkey Kong in the '80s. Parents bowled in a league and they'd let me hang out in the arcade but never gave me quarters to actually play anything. So, I'd watch... I got to play maybe 3 times.

They ironically bought me a book on how to beat Donkey Kong...

Kind of, but its like going to rent movies or games to me. There some of my favorite childhood memories, but I dont really feel like I need to relive it

Plus barcades do a serviceable enough job of it. My friend and I stopped in one a few months ago before seeing The Offspring and had a blast playing Turtles in Time

I also have a few actual cabinets in my theatre room so the experience is always there in some form

Man, I played dome/bubble hockey for the first time ever a few months ago. So much fun

Kinda - I'm old enough to have had to a few birthday parties in arcades, was really awesome (plus won't lie, helped social cred).

They were fun enough, but they were never good enough to keep my attention for more than ~10 minutes at a time.

Never was my scene. If I was born 5 or more years earlier (i.e. before the NES came out and blew up), it probably would have been different
