Soul Society has the same exact issues the rest of the series has, but it was the first major arc so it got a pass. The last arc is so fucking stupid. The fights drag on even longer than ever and it's just asspull after asspull. Because yeah the fillers and the awkard dragged out scenes (especially during fights) absolutely brings down the anime experience by a lot. No. We got the antagonist group's backstory and motivations but all of it begun over a 1000 years before Ichigo was even born. Frankly to me this was just another story of Ichigo getting involved in and cleaning up more baggage of soul societys he had little to nothing to do with. As for the connection between the big bad and his sword, I never noticed it. I know I'm being hard on the guy, and he was in alot of pain at that point which made his quality suffer. But the pacing wasn't very consistent for someone trying to end the series fast. What was with all the time spent on new lore, new Characters, action, dialogue and story?
