Out of nowhere i get flooded with shitty click bait medical videos, top 10 lists, celebrity garbage, text to speech reddit shit, and fucking awful infographics cartoon videos. None of which i actually want to see. I never sought them out in the past (if anything, i always click "dont recommend" when that shit has popped up before). My stuff is usually on topic with what I watch(animal videos, weeb shit, vidya, music), but every now and then I'll get a video from someone I give zero shits about over a topic I never look at on YT. The algorithm is based entirely on watch history. It looks at videos in your history, compares it to the history of other people that watched that video, and recommends videos that a lot of those people have watched. If you want to curate your recommendations, curate your history.
