I've been playing a shit ton of the original CTR lately (for some reason) and now I'm wondering how the new version holds up.

The physics are a little different (Sewer Speedway sucks now), but it's lots of fun imo. It has all the tracks from CTR and CNK (reworked to eliminate antigravity), plus a few new tracks, some of which are really good.

The loading times are brutal on Switch and reportedly not much better on PS4. Idk if there's still a big player base for online play, but it can be tough to find a match sometimes. It's still cool being able to actually play with people online when it does work though.

The cosmetics and additional characters are cool additions. The microtransactions are completely optional and have no effect on gameplay. Also you can unlock it all for free if you're patient and you can certainly earn enough coins to unlock just the things you actually want through regular play.

Thanks for the post. I've been in the mood for a fun, polished kart racing game, and unfortunately, Sega All-Star racing isn't on the PS4. So I figured Crash would more than make up for it.

Yep, it holds up really well. It's such a good remaster that I wouldn't need to go back to the original game.

Another game I'd recommend if it appeals to you is Hot Wheels Unleashed.

It's definitely a lot of fun. I played the hell out of CTR as a kid and then played the hell out of Nitro Fueled when it came out (and all through the dlc seasons). If you can get an active lobby online and can tolerate old-school loading times on a modern system, you'll love it.

I loved it... Played the hell out of all of the game and all of the events...

Tons of unlockable characters and cosmetics too...

It's a great game. I played the hell out of Nitro Fueled on PS4 when it first released.

And I don't know how the online is now, but back then, there was always at least 1 player that was really good at maintaining boost for the whole race. Some tracks I could pull that off, but others, I got stomped lol.

It's not on PC, so 0/10

i wanted to like it, but the item balance was an absolute joke, and basically 9 of the players were garbage, the other 2 were speedrunners and time trial dudes doing sAcReD bLuE fIrE strats that can't be touched. both this game and mario kart 8 got ruined by overused meta bullshit

Much more difficult than the og game.

Sacred blue fire wasn't really a "strategy". Just a mechanic with a really high skill ceiling. I found it fun to see how long I could manage it during a race.

I'm not really concerned with online play. I just want a nice time killer that I can sink an hour or two in every now and then.

It's pretty fun. Not a hardcore fan of CTR but as someone who enjoyed a casual game of it, the remake felt very much like a proper remake, similar to how N Sane Trilogy did for those games.

One of the better remakes out there. Played the hell out of the original and sunk a ton of time into the remake. There are fairly minor differences in the handling, but it's easy to adjust to.

right, which requires strategies for different courses. i don't know what compelled you to try and correct me about this
