I mean, US nuked Japan then got an ally at the end of it all.

And it isn't like the area becomes forever uninhabitable, unusable, or whatever term you're thinking of.

Hiroshima alone has over 1 million residents.

And yes I know there's a 1001 differences between the city busters we've seen and the nukes Russia could theoretically use, but I feel like everybody gets this Fallout universe view in their head and that the area stays that way forever and ever

Our largest tested bomb as a species, the Tsar Bomba, would only make an explosion size that would take out Kyiv and the surrounding towns/cities.

It'd have other unsavory effects like irradiating the fuck out of the Kyiv reservoir, which eventually feeds into the Black Sea.

No mistake, it'd be devestating to Ukraine but we're still ultimately talking about a relatively small chunk of Ukraine.

People just get this weird idea in their head when they think nuclear

it would be to nuke the entire ukraine military by hitting the military compounds

this results in death tolls of horrendous numbers

but it is not factual to say the country no longer exists to be occupied
