Personally I think in a global society they should not be needed but the issuing agencies make a lot of money from fees so I doubt passports will ever go away

I dont mind those but whats up with every country now require you fill out a travel registration and pay a fee before even getting on a plane

I was looking to travel to South Korea. With a us passport you dont need to apply for a visa , but you need to fill out a form, submit a photo, pay 10 bucks and wait for approval.

apparently the US does this too if youre visiting. Except you pay 30 dollars. Why!

I never think about it but I think every country has a different age, follow the law and you should be ok

Countries have a right to deny entry within their sovereign boundaries. Passports provide transactional history as you cross borders.

Plus I like how irrefutable they are of my citizenship status.

Never even heard of this. And ive been to korea many times to see family.

I remember when I passed through Liechtenstein they had a little office where you could pay to have them stamp your passport. I don't think there was an administrative reason for it, just a tourism thing
