what did you think of the course?

I felt, at first -- like I had been given coal at Christmas, but eventually after spending a lot of time in the course, it was a Diamond in the rough.

Yes, every single organic course that was offered at my Uni, it was great, and now I'm a synthetic organic chemist for a living

I have my degree in biochemistry so I took both general and advanced organic chemistry courses.

To me, it was hard, until it wasnt. If you study and work through the problems you eventually learn to recognize the patterns of how it works.

It's not as hard as people say it is.

Yup, not that hard if you take it in a semester where you have a lot of time. A lot of it is just memorizing different reactions and interactions, pretty much making tons of flash cards throughout the semester. No really abstract concepts or things that are tough to wrap your head around, just need to put in the time. I was still able to get a B even though I took it as an elective while I had 3 other Electrical Engineering courses w/ labs which took up most my time.

what?

Basically:

1) Organic chemistry is the study of the chemistry of carbon compounds.
2) Charcoal is a lightweight black carbon residue
3) Diamond is carbon arranged in a lattice.

Yeah, I was a chemistry major. It's hard, but physical chemistry was harder I would say. Unless you're extremely good at math then you might find physical easier.

I never went to grad school, but if I had I probably was heading in a direction of organic, I found it quite interesting.

Fun but a lot of work. 1 was harder than 2.
