I've just read so much of it, and it's in everything I watch basically (movies, games, etc) and there's this whole fictional universe with its own laws and rules and unique locations to envision and a history of events spanning all of time basically and multiple dimensions, and he was something of a rather interesting person. The practice of going on a Lovecraftian tangent, or stream of consciousness, and diary style tongue in cheek writing, carefully hiding the use of your thesaurus and encyclopedia, is addictive for lack of a better word. There's a lot of pseudo-science in Lovecraft, some of which anticipated things to come in the real world only a few decades later, and that opens special parts of the brain for memory and learning, combined with themes of false doctrines and awful nightmarish hellscapes born from the unimaginable terror mind of an extraterrestrial predator creature, unfeeling, and undying. Compared to many other fictitious bodies, the Cthulhu verse is rather simple in its design too, and relayed in short stories, and at the end of the day the real secret is how loose some of those rules can be when it comes to what can and can't happen in a Lovecraft story, and I think plenty of Lovecraft readers do like at least a mini case study, or draw up a small psyche profile of the man, which is common to do with many authors as a reader.
