It surely is peculiar, but so is literally everything else they turn their hyper-fixations towards. so what's the deal with CS and why do meme-stock/cryptobros have an unlhealthy fixation with it this week?

Because WSB hates hedge funds and IB. CS has a history of problems and this might be the straw that breaks its back. So watching a big bank fall will have these people obsessed.

There's a contingent of GME/AMC/BBBY people that want more than just to make money; they want the hedge funds that shorted to go bankrupt and to blow up the entire system. There's arguments that they came really close to it in Jan/Feb 2021 but who knows how close they really were.

So the CS thing is kind of a continuation of that mindset.

They want payback for 2008
