This finally explains why the movie was hot garbage and why he completely ruined the characterization of everyone involved, going from seemingly understand what and who Batman was about to completely destroying any and all goodwill built up over those 2 iconic movies. He had no plans to make a 3rd movie like that in the first place. Admittedly tdk was a good stopping point but I always assumed it was meant to be "the start of batman" not the end

TDK raised the bar so high that no sequel could ever live up to. Movie was just too damn good

despite all of the exposition, Inception was a great movie, so it was worth it...I guess (not if you're a Batman fan, though).

The Dark Knight Rises is mostly hot garbage but the Bane plane scene is unintentionally one of the funniest movie scenes ever. Every time you watch it you find something new that is stupid.

Christopher Nolan is not a die hard Batman fan who grew up wishing to make a Dark Knight movie. He's a director who saw an opportunity in adapting a popular character to the screen. By the third film, he was ready to move on.

I get that you can't have Batman Begins followed by Batman Ends. The third movie had to be made. But I can't blame Christopher Nolan for being over it by that point.

In any event, it was inevitable that Batman movies would experience a drop in quality. We're lucky to have gone from The Dark Knight to The Dark Knight Rises instead of directly to Batman v Superman.

Tdkr is still better than 70% of DCEU/MCU crap tbh

Doesn't help that him and his brother are awful writers.

I still remember an interview he did back when after TDK talking about the next potential villain. He said he didn't want to do The Penguin because he's too unrealistic. Next movie: flying car. Just something amusing that stuck with me.

Penguin is just a gangster.

Like, Falcone from the first film could have been named Oswald Cobblepot, with Bruce Wayne calling him a Penguin as a verbal dig, and nothing would have changed.

TDKR was great. I was hoping he would make a JGL Robin movie

Agreed. The one with joker was actually the worst of the trilogy tbh.

But Inception was kind of meh.

The reason Catwoman felt tacked on is because his brother begged him to put her in the film, and Christopher and David S. Goyer were basically like "fine okay" and had him write parts of it to stick in the script
