The drops are tied to your ID so if you're not the vocation you want to be on the xth time an item drops, then you gotta farm all of that shit all over again until you get to the next determined roll when it drops So instead I skipped all of that bullshit and duped drops until I got what I needed. https://www.reddit.com/r/DragonsDogma/comments/q2m093/is_bitterblack_purification_item_rng_or_it/ Basically it uses your ID as a seed and the problem with using a specific number as a seed for a random number generator is that the sequence is always the same when using that seed.
