  • over 30 min an episode. too long
  • endless/arbitrary amount of seasons
^these two points mean they are forced to fill time
  • every fucking thing needs background story. Do I really need the whole tragic background of the valet driver? This shit's annoying in anime too. Some stuff is better when it's mysterious or implied. I don't need every detail, nor was I wondering about every detail
  • every fucking thing needs a side plot. I'm okay not seeing a particular character for a while or if they're just secondary. Some secondary chars are great in their role
  • every episode ends with a cliffhanger that does not get addressed till halfway through the next episode (if you're lucky). They are engineered to want you to watch more
  • so much goddamn closure for everything. Everything needs its stupid little touching moment to top it off and then you get that shot of both chars looking at each other with a half smile like "we've grown!". It's good every now and then but when every moment is like this, it's annoying

Ultimately I just wished they stuck to what's interesting about the show and ride that, I don't need a ton of background and side plots and all this shit. Some 5 hour sideplot endeavors could definitely be cut down to be like a 15 min thing, especially for the amount (or lack of) significance they carry for the main plot points.

I agree with point one. I don't like watching anything over 30 minutes unless it has a large cast of characters like GoT or Walking Dead. Most hour long shows I've watched draaaggg every scene out and all dialogue/social exchanges are unnaturally slow just to fill time.

It's weird too cause the show and actors and stuff carry every scene with equal weight so it makes me do the work of "wait, is this actually important?", when really it should be the show that spends longer on important things and less on less important things.
