Everything Putin has been trying to do in Ukraine has been failure, and the conscription of ordinary Russians into the army isn't going well at all. People say things like "Putin isn't stupid enough to launch nukes" or "the people around him won't let him", but I don't find any of those answers comforting. Whether he launches nukes at just Ukraine or at the US or our allies, it will provoke a massive response and change geopolitics severely. Instead of nukes, he might deploy a bioweapon for at least some semblance of deniability. But suppose Putin doesn't use nukes or biological warfare (or is prevented from doing so by someone else). Russia will sooner or later collapse from sanctions and mismanagement. What will happen to the people? What will happen geopolitically?

Maybe it has just been the last three shitty years, but to me, this all feels like it can't end well at all for the world. Is it just me? I'd love to believe I'm overthinking this.

I agree it's concerning, but worrying about it when you don't have the power to change the situation and nothing seems like it will get worse just yet makes worrying pointless.

You are totally alone. Even the people of Ukraine whose homes have been blown up are less fearful than you.

Okay but how do you react to a threat, you either run, hide or fight. America is choosing to fight.

This is my life motto.

Can't do anything about a situation? Then don't bother worrying about it.

Can do something about a situation? Then stop worrying about it and go do something about it.

I think he's far more likely to orchestrate a meltdown at zaporizhzhia than he is to drop a nuke.

In the case of the former, there are a whole bunch of concrete evidence you can point to that he's working towards that goal, whereas every time he talks about nukes in his speech some US agency comes out to highlight that they haven't seen any actual movement at silos that would indicate he's being serious.

Plus according to estimates, a zaporizhzhia "accident" only irradiates Europe and a portion of the front line, leaving the rest of Russia untouched:

Russian troops are supposed to have kidnapped the director general of Ukraine's Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant.

That's just the most recent thing. A week or two ago there was shelling that hit the wall of the water reservoir that cools the plant as well as near one of their backup generators. Then of course there's the fact that it's been disconnected from basically all but one backup power source, and you can see how they've been slowly building towards this narrative.

How is this better? I don't think the US or EU will sit back and watch while parts of Europe get irradiated. Unless you think they can contain it to just be inside of Ukraine? Even still, it will lead to further escalation.

I don't really appreciate the sarcastic comments, either. I'm from the United States not the Ukraine, and obviously everyone not living under a rock knows there is a war going on over there. I made this topic because it seems like things are gearing up to escalate in a serious way in the very near future that could affect basically everyone. This worries me quite strongly, and I wanted know what other folks thought.

I get it, it's concerning, problem is that you can't do anything to alter or change it. We are all at the mercy of the whims of maniacs. Which is perhaps why we shouldn't have all these weapons around that can destroy half world.

But because I can't control it I also don't let it dictate how I live my life, how I feel, or anything else.

I'm a little nervous, yeah. I don't know if I'm ready to process the idea of hearing that a nuclear weapon has been deployed in modern times.
