I love that movie way more than a grown ass man should.

I still fall out my chair laughing at "Fugly slut" and "too gay to function."

...Think i first saw that movie at school ironically, and it was free time - not education about bullying.

A travesty we never got a 3 and 2 is just...forgettable.
IIRC, the unofficial mean girls day is coming up too.

Grown ass man here, love this movie too.

I'd be a bit skeptical on how any future sequels would go. The world has changed since the early 00s, and bullying tends to be a far more touchier subject with more well known concequences.

The first movie still holds up well though, and I'd be willing to give a 3rd movie a chance.

Agreed, I didn't care for Mean Girls at all. Heathers is both a way funnier and more original concept and is way less cliche-ridden

I almost turned Mean Girls off right at the start with the scene introducing the "cliques", it being the 732,550th movie doing the "highschool is sharply segregated according to human archetypes that are all wacky" trope. Pushed through that begrudgingly but ultimately dropped it about halfway through when I realized all 5 funny parts have been meme'd so much I've already seen everything it had to offer via osmosis

The main cast was hot though

Jawbreakers was basically Heathers + Clueless. Tina Fey has outright credited Jawbreaker as an inspiration with the hallway walk scene borrowed from that film. It's cool how these movies kind of inspired one another and have their DNA.
With that said, Jawbreaker is pretty bad lol. But it's one of those enjoyable bad movies.

If anything, I say 10 Things I Hate About You (also inspired by Clueless) is super reminiscent of Mean Girls. Both movies have the same energy. It's probably why I love them both.

On a funny side note...At the time it was released, I was dating a girl who lived in the Skokie, IL area (where the movie was set). When they had the scene where they talked about Old Orchard mall, she yelled out "That's not Old Orchard!" as they showed the luxurious 3 story indoor mall in the movie. (The actual Old Orchard mall is an outdoor mall). Like they would actually film it at the real Old Orchard.
