Just got my new apartment, and it doesnt have washers or driers like my old one did. Gonna have to use a laundromat for a bit while I save up for my own machines. Havent done so before.

Is it cool to leave your clothes in them and come back when its done? Do most lock while running so people cant take your stuff? Dont wanna sit around for an hour and a half lol

I think it's usually the case

I know most(if not all) of them have a lock with a timer on them when you start them, and they'll only open after the timer is up.

This, but even then it has to be really sketchy to need to stay. I live in a not-so-great area and take our laundry once a week to the next door laundromat. Usually we drop our clothes off in the washer, come home to eat/grab clean laundry bag, walk back like 25min later and start drying. Sometimes we'll go to a nearby gamestore while the clothes dry. Nobody has messed with our stuff.

Just don't be an asshole and leave your clothes in a machine for like 30min waiting to be taken out. People who do that deserve to have their clothes thrown on the floor.

Set a timer to match the cycle and come back a minute or three before it's done.

As long as youre okay with your clothes being taken out and placed in a ball on a table if you arent there for so much as one second past their run time.

I've never stayed with my clothes when using a laundromat.

I left my clothes by accident before going away for 2 weeks, and they were there when I came back.

I was mildly impressed

If it's a public laundromat u stay with your stuff. If it's an apt complex laundromat you are fine to leave your stuff.

No, but if its a busy one, someones going to dump all your clothes out as soon as its done to put their clothes in there. Or if you live in some ghetto place, someones going to take your shit out mid cycle to put theirs in.

Especially if you leave them in dryer, they will scope it out.

Had a close call with my Rapha cycling gear.

I've always stayed. The times I used the laundry mat I always had to take a cab, so it wasn't worth going back and forth multiple times.

I just brought a book and a few beers.

the worst that i've ever experienced is just people taking out someone else's clothes and dumping it, either on a table or a basket or even the floor. i don't really hear of much getting stolen but it's definitely possible.

basically, be there to watch, or else yeah someone might mess with it. but it depends on the area, how busy, etc. mostly no one cares, only if you're in the way/taking up space/bothering everyone.

Honestly when it comes to clothes and leaving them unattended, that depends on the clothes you are having cleaned and the people and general rep of the area you are cleaning them in. I've had scumbag people literally steal articles of clothes from me more than once, before I'd only notice it a day or two later, but still too late. I've had crazy cheapass people try to move my clothes out of the washer they were in during the wash cycle to put theirs in. And people even try to make room for their clothing after mine just finished, because the other washers were full and they were in a rush, as if they had any right to handle my clothing at all.

Some people are beyond entitled and / or fucked in the head and even though some deserve a hard lesson it's not worth the potential consequences. All you can do is avoid them and try not to let them drag you down.

I'll usually throw two loads in the washers and wait until they are done. Then i'll throw them in the dryer and walk home until they are done in 30-40 minutes. Have never had anything stolen but I live in a small town of like 1500.

Just be back BEFORE your clothes are done. I hate people who leave them sitting in there for extended periods of time.

In fact, I would support a cart narc type person who just goes into laundry mats and takes out clothes that are past their timers.
